What is Acupuncture?

Eve Lomas, Acupuncturist, Tui Na & Naturopath.

Acupuncture is part of the traditional medicine of China, which is based on thousands of years of study, research, observation and experience.

It is used to promote and maintain good health and to restore the sick, unwell or unhappy to a state of good health and well- being.

Traditional acupuncture works to maintain the body’s equilibrium by focusing on all areas of discomfort in order to be able to recognise the full landscape of the client’s health, that is, the particular patterns of disharmony as understood in the Chinese system of medical theory.

This state of balance is achieved by the insertion of fine sterile needles at

particular points on the body which are sensitive to and can influence the flow of subtle energy (‘qi’) which flows beneath the skin at varying depths.

This is a surprisingly pleasant experience and usually induces a state of deep relaxation and well- being .
